Authorities Detain a Military Police Officer After Shooting and Killing a Man

SIHANOUKVILLE: Preah Sihanouk Provincial Gendarmerie Officer, Am Cheko, and one other person were arrested by the provincial police after being suspected of shooting and killing a person at the Two Lions roundabout in Sihanoukville.

The two individuals were arrested on Sunday morning after the victim was shot around 12:30 PM. Currently, both have been sent to the Provincial Gendarmerie to continue the legal process.

According to a witness, before the incident, they saw two motorcycles riding beside each other along road Dragon Tail Road. When they reached the roundabout, both drivers stopped and had an argument. The assailant, Officer Am Cheko, seen beating the victim and then went to retrieve a gun from his motorcycle and hit the victim on the head before shooting him.

After the incident, Sihanoukville police arrested officer Am Cheko along with one other person, and took them in for questioning. The body of the victim was taken to the Provincial Referral Hospital for forensic examination, then handed over to the victim’s relatives for the traditional funeral ceremony.
